Award a contract to Lake Chevrolet for the purchase of one rapid <br />deployment %-ton transportation vehicle in an amount not to exceed <br />$68,170. <br />2. Award a contract to City Chevrolet for the purchase of six %-ton <br />utility trucks and one 1-ton utility truck in an amount not to <br />exceed $199,740. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Finance and Management Services Agency Fleet Division's annual <br />Equipment Replacement Program is in the City's annual budget and includes <br />vehicles scheduled for replacement. Funding is monitored through a <br />depreciation schedule established with each department. For fiscal year <br />2007-2008, 85 vehicles are identified for replacement. The proposed action <br />is to replace 5 of those identified and ac~.d three new vehicles to the <br />fleet. Additionally, the Fleet Division reviews acquisitions in accordance <br />with the City's Hybrid and Alternative Fuel Vehicle Acquisition Policy. <br />Currently, hybrid vehicles are not available in %-ton and large truck <br />categories. <br />Agencies utilize different classes of vehicles in accordance to the needs <br />and requirements of their operations. The Police Department is adding one <br />-ton Chevrolet Suburban to the fleet as a rapid deployment transportation <br />vehicle under a Police Block Grant. The City's 10 SWAT members assigned to <br />Orange County's Joint Hazard Assessment Team will be transported in the <br />rapid deployment vehicle to any incident. Additionally, the Police <br />Department is replacing a 1997 large utility truck used for transporting <br />office and safety supplies as well as delivery of City assets. <br />22G-1 <br />
