Santiago Nature Reserve <br />January 18, 2008 <br />Page 2 <br />SCOPE OF WORK <br />TASK 1- Pre - Design Meeting <br />A. Meet with City Project Manager and park staff, review project requirements, <br />objectives, schedule, design procedures, project approach, and working methodology. <br />(1 meeting) <br />B. Obtain documents and information to be provided by City. <br />TASK 2 — Preliminary Landscape Plan <br />A.Program Analysis, Site Information, and Field Review <br />1. Review architectural drawings and site drawings prepared by Dougherty and <br />Dougherty for the building construction. <br />2. Receive CAD files of site survey that the City has already had prepared. <br />3. Review City as -built information regarding irrigation, drainage, utilities, etc. Plot <br />known underground utilities on base sheet using information supplied by City. <br />4. Walk site, record existing features, views, access, site conditions to be resolved. <br />Restoration ecologist will walk site and take soil samples. Assess pedestrian and <br />service circulation patterns and access for persons with disabilities. Summarize <br />information and implications on an in -house sketch document. <br />5. Confirm the following program with staff in the initial meeting. The program, as <br />explained on the site, is summarized as follows: <br />Part 1 Restoration <br />• Site is to be restored as a natural park, emphasizing native grasslands and <br />featuring a small area as a vernal pool. The area around the Wildlife and Habitat <br />Center to be landscaped as a native plant garden. <br />• The area should accommodate nature walks, school visits, and campfire talks. <br />• There will be an irrigation system throughout for plant establishment, with <br />provisions for separate systems adjacent to the building. These systems would be <br />for permanent irrigation, while the irrigation system in the remainder of the area is <br />planned to be infrequently used after the initial establishment period. <br />Part 2 Amphitheater and related site improvements <br />• An outdoor amphitheater to seat approximately 60 people is to be included. <br />• The amphitheater is to be rustic in character, using materials such as fallen logs, <br />recycled concrete, and boulders. It should have a fire pit and presentation area, It <br />should be simple in design and is not to include audio - visual equipment, cabinets, <br />overhead structures, etc. <br />
