Description of Work - In the space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12 -month contract period. What specific activities will be undertaken during the contract period. Please be concise in vour resnnnca nniv tha viewame space wui This grant will be used to fund a portion of Human Options battered women's shelter. Clients are provided a safe place to stay while receiving food, clothing, individual and group counseling, access to social, legal, and supportive services, job readiness training, job placement, life skills training, and help with finding affordable housing. Clients may stay a maximum of 45-60 days. Each resident is assigned a case manager and a counselor. The case manager helps the client access supportive services while the counselor helps the woman deal with her trauma. All women participate in groups that cover such topics as dynamics of domestic violence, communication skills training, anger management, building healthy relationships, drug and alcohol abuse, parenting skills, budgeting, goal setting, and financial planning. Human Options legal advocate works with each client according to her individual needs. She helps her with applying for a temporary restraining order, accompaniment to court, and resolving child custody issues. The children's program is designed to help the children heal from the effects of violence in their home, to break the inter -generational cycle of violence, and to develop age appropriate emotional and developmental needs.
