Description of Work - In the space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12 -month contract period. <br />What specific activities will be undertaken during the contract period. Only the <br />viewaoie space wiii print. <br />Taller San Jose, located in downtown Santa Ana, walks undereducated, unskilled and unemployed young adults out <br />of poverty through job training in three key areas --Residential Construction, Office Skills and Medical Careers --and <br />links them to employment with a living wage. Taller San Jose students participate in Life Skills programming, which <br />includes counseling through case managers, legal counseling, 12 -step support groups, financial education, resume <br />writing and interview skills. <br />Taller Tech is a 16 -week, paid apprenticeship program, that teaches the fundamentals of construction and <br />incorporates classroom learning, hands-on experience, mentoring and job placement. Annually there are 6 <br />sessions of 20-25 students for each class. 75% of graduates find employment within 60 days at an average wage <br />of $12/hour. <br />Office Careers Academy is a 16 -week, paid apprenticeship program that certifies students in Microsoft Word and <br />Excel and teaches business skills that incorporates resume writing and interview skills, dressing for success, writing <br />and presentation skills and financial education. Annually there are 6 sessions of 20-25 students for each class. <br />75% of graduates find employment within 60 days at an average wage of $12/hour. <br />Medical Careers Academy is a 16 -week, paid apprenticeship program that prepares students for positions in a <br />medical front office, as admitting clerks or medical assistants. Coursework focuses on computer skills and customer <br />service, as well as medical terminology and basic clinical care procedures. Annually there are 3 sessions of 20-25 <br />students for each class. <br />Schedule of Performace <br />Estimate the number of ONLY unduplicated Santa Ana residents to be served by the funded program during the 12 - <br />month contract period per quarter.
