Participants' BMI measurements are taken at the
beginning of the program and are analyzed by the Evaluation Team. LHA has set a goal that exceeds that of
the City's: 60% of the participants in the Healthy Weight Program are expected to decrease their BMIs. Post-
tests are administered to the parents to measure the behavioral changes made as a result of the program.
Again, the goals set for the behavioral changes made by both the parents and the children are set at 80%.
These post-tests are analyzed by the Evaluation team and entered into a database.
In order to track the requirements for HUD, LHA will keep accurate records of the attendance at each
nutrition and exercise class, as well as a log that documents the amount of follow-up performed for the
participants that are overweight and need the full maintenance. This follow-up included phone calls, hone
visits, and the consultations with registered dieticians, as previously mentioned. This follow-up log and
procedure will highlight this new expanded service offered to the Santa Ana residents of Spectrum. The
improved access to a service will be the increasing availability of exercise opportunities for this community.
Logging and the tracking of results will help to show that our program is a new option for families, and that
they no longer have to settle for substandard service.
Exhibit A-1
