Description of Work - In the space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12-month contract period. <br />What specific activities will be undertaken during the contract period. Only the <br />viewable space will print. <br />There are several key components to the Pathways to Adventeure Program: <br />*Adventure Days*Family Fishing Day and Resource Faire *Overnight Camp Experience*Fishing Coach Day <br />The Advneture Days will incorporate curriculum-based activities as welt as hands-on practical activities to apply skills <br />learned. Participants will be transported to the program site for his component. Adventure Days will be scheduled (6) <br />times during the summer months from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. with betewwn 50 - 120 participants per session. <br />Participants will be recruited from several summer day camps throughout Santa Ana, including recreation centers, <br />schools, and non-profit organizations. Each participant will engage in a variety of educational stations designed to <br />introduce outdoor education skills and activities including fishing, fish cleaning, lake ecology, and eco-systems, at <br />Centennial Lake; fishing, camping, and orienteering at Oak Canyon Lake; hiking, backpacking, outdoor photography, <br />and geology of trails and riverbed at Santiago Park. <br />(1) city-wide special event, Family Fishing Day and Resource Faire, will be conducted at Centennial Lake. This <br />event will include resource and information tables and interactive displays staffed by Pathways Ambassadors and <br />industry professionals. The Fishing Day will include a fishing derby with prizes and awards given in various <br />categories. The Family Fishing Day will provide instruction for families to be able to fish on their own and expose them <br />to conservation and environment stewardship ideals. <br />(1) Overnight Camp Experience will be held at the Oak Canyon Lake site and will give participants an opportunity to <br />learn about animals that lurk in the night as Pathways staff gives fireside chats. The participants will also have the <br />opportunity to fish at night with lighted fishing rods. There will be a chuck wagon BBO in the evening and a pancake <br />breakfast in the morning. Each participant will have a choice of a free fishing rod or tackle box before leaving. <br />(1) Fishing Coach Day will be scheduled at Centennial Lake as follow up coaching and instruction to practice fishing <br />skills, including casting, fish biology, environmental stewardship, etc. <br />Schedule of Performace <br />Estimate the number of ONLY unduplicated Santa Ana residents to be served by the funded program during the 12- <br />month contract period per quarter.
