Orange County Conservation Corps <br />Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board <br />Request for Proposal <br />The Youth Service Provider Network <br />PY 2008/2009 <br />• The OCCC Transition Class will help participants to explore future employment, career <br />and educational opportunities. <br />• The OCCC will provide follow-up services to ensure participants are working towards <br />higher employment earnings and employment retention services in a variety of venues <br />and settings throughout the county. <br />OCCC ensures 9 out of the 10 WIA Required Program Elements are provided to corpsmembers <br />either by the OCCC or by OCCC's extensive network of community partners who provide <br />services as in-kind support. <br />Indicate which of the 10 WIA elements the proaram will address. <br />The OCCC program design provides 9 of the10 WIA elements: <br />• Tutoring, study skills training, and instruction leading to completion of secondary <br />school, including drop-out strategies; <br />• Alternative secondary school services; <br />• Paid and unpaid work experience; <br />• Occupational skill training; <br />• Leadership development opportunities; <br />• Supportive services; <br />• Adult mentoring; <br />• Follow up services for a minimum of 12 months after completion; <br />• Referrals for comprehensive guidance and counseling (i.e. substance abuse, legal, <br />medical, family) <br />The OCCC is an open entry and open exit, .year round .program that normally takes 6 months to <br />a year to complete. All participants enrolled will have an opportunity to receive class room tutoring to <br />improve basic reading and math skill levels if found to be basic skills deficient. During this time <br />participants without a high school diploma will be enrolled into school to obtain their high <br />school diploma.
