Orange County Conservation Corps <br />Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board <br />Request for Proposal <br />The Youth Service Provider Network <br />PY 2008/2009 <br />• Corpsmember Leadership Council President is an Ad Hoc member of the OCCC Board of <br />Directors and presents a monthly report to the Board; <br />• Work sponsor surveys when a work project is completed or at least once a year for <br />ongoing work projects; <br />• Weekly or semi-monthly internal monitoring meetings for program <br />compliance/performance; <br />• At least two (2) staff development days per year for full staff that relate to program <br />evaluation, mission, planning, etc; <br />• Multiple program/grant site reviews and audits for program/grant compliance; <br />• Annual corps certification review; <br />• Annual independent financial audit; <br />• Annual program evaluations by corpsmembers, staff, and Board members; <br />• An annual Board of Directors planning day; <br />• An annual Executive Director workplan that is monitored by the Board; <br />• A three year OCCC Strategic Plan; <br />• Membership with organizations and conference attendance that promote continuous <br />improvement. <br />Program Description <br />Describe the overall services that will be made available to the WlA participant. <br />Following are the overall services that will be made available to all WIA participants: <br />OUTREACH/RECRUITMENT (ongoing as previously described on pages 2-4) <br />ORIENTATION (One week, 40 hour training) <br />1. Introduction to OCCC Program <br />2. Review corpsmember policies and procedures <br />3. Complete 8 hours of community activism awareness <br />4. Complete 8 hours of conservation awareness <br />5. Learn proper tool use and safety <br />6. Receive first aide/CPR certification <br />7. Perform 8 hours of hands-on field work <br />Once corpsmembers are hired and successfully complete orientation, they enter the following <br />OCCC program components: <br />PAID WORK EXPERIENCE (maximum of 24 months of paid work experience) <br />1. On the job training; internships <br />2. Field-based vocational and occupational skills training; <br />3. Develop positive work ethic/attitude/performance; <br />4.
