Only the <br />viewable space will print. <br />Type in description here. <br />The Leadership in Action Program is designed to support the positive development of young Latino people of <br />Santa Ana; to acquire the skills and competencies to be full, productive and active members in their community <br />and equally importantly, to learn the skills to become action -motivated leaders. The program will impact one or <br />more of the following areas of their young lives: knowledge, attitudes, leadership skills and status. The focus of the <br />program is also based on the "positive outcomes" in the leadership growth of: confidence, character, competence <br />and community connections. The key elements of the program are academic achievement with higher education, <br />leadership skills with hand -on application, civic involvement with active participation, pride of heritage and culture, <br />the value of diversity and the camaraderie of Latino unity. <br />The program structure provides monthly student -training seminars/workshops presented by educators, elected <br />officials, community activist and corporate/business leaders. In addition, with the support of the community, are <br />guest speakers, career/job fairs, graduation celebration, and a recognition reception. The underlying principle of <br />the program is the need to pursue a higher education. The leadership development training includes problem - <br />solving and decision-making skills while providing the students with a sense of responsibility and accountability <br />through action designed projects and assignments. <br />Schedule of Performace <br />Estimate the number of ONLY unduplicated Santa Ana residents to be served by the funded program during the 12 - <br />month contract period per quarter.
