(2) Newly planted trees, shrubs, ground cover and turf shall receive adequate <br />water to promote normal healthy growth. Proper berms or basins shall be <br />maintained during plant establishment period. <br />b) Operation of Automatic Irrigation Controllers <br />Where the operation of automatic irrigation controllers is required, the <br />Contractor shall: <br />(]) Not duplicate any coded City key furnished by the Parks, Recreation & <br />Community Services Agency for access and operation of the controller. <br />(2) Surrender all keys furnished by the Parks, Recreation & Community <br />Services Agency at the end of the contract period or at any time deemed <br />necessary by the Director to prevent serious loss to the City of Santa Ana. <br />(3) Protect the security of City property by I:eeping controller cabinet and <br />huildin~, doors locked at all times. <br />('4) Retain f~rum usin~~ lucked premises for stora~~c of matcri~ils, supplies or <br />tools, except as approved by the Director. <br />(~) Program normal irrigation bet«~een the hours of 10:00 p.m. and x}:00 a.m. <br />c) Water Conservation <br />(l) The Contractors Certified Irrigation Specialist shall meet once a month <br />with the Utility Coordinator to review the City's Monthly Water <br />Conservation Report (see Attachment 6) to discuss water conservation <br />strategies. These discussions may include, but not be limited to, the <br />Contractor turning off irrigation systems during periods of rainfall and <br />times when suspension of irrigation is desirable to conserve water while <br />remaining within the guidelines of the EAW. <br />(2) When the Utility Coordinator determines that plant material (turf, <br />groundcover, shrubs, and trees) must be irrigated, all controllers shall be <br />activated within twenty-four (24) hours. In the event the controllers are <br />not activated within 24 hours the City may charge Contractor all staff cost <br />incurred by City to activate controllers. <br />d) Inspection and Re ortin <br />(1) The Contractor shall physically inspect the operation of all irrigation <br />systems once a month and prepare a written report specifying park name, <br />controller location/name, start times, run times, program name, station <br />number, and repairs needed. The Contractor shall maintain all sprinkler <br />systems using City standard irrigation products and details. All repairs <br />shall be to City specifications and details. Repairs to irrigation heads shall <br />be with matching precipitation nozzles. Contractor shall ensure that <br />23 <br />25C-199 <br />
