Authorize the City Manger and the Clerk of the Council to execute <br />the attached agreement with Stanley Access Technologies for the <br />installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) assisted door <br />operators at various locations at the Santa Ana Regional <br />Transportation Center in the amount of $36,000, subject to non- <br />substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />2. Approve a Funding Analysis with a total estimated cost of $45,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center is a transportation hub, <br />combining Amtrak, MetroLink, Orange County Transit Authority and other <br />bus services with office space for various state, county and city <br />departments. Additionally, the facility includes a five-story theme <br />tower that houses additional office space and conference rooms. The <br />Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center was built in 1985 with most of <br />the original doors still in place and now need to be modified to meet <br />current ADA requirements for a public building. <br />In July 2006, the Public Works Agency completed an assessment of <br />accessibility for the public areas at the transportation center. As a <br />result of this survey, a list of recommendations was compiled, which <br />includes installation of automatic door operators at various entry doors <br />throughout the facility. In May, a request for proposals for <br />installation of ADA assisted door operators was prepared based on the <br />July 2006 assessment and distributed to eleven specialty contractors. <br />Two proposals were received and evaluated by staff.
