filing, and data entry are costly and labor- intensive processes for officers and support <br />personnel. <br />Project Objectives: <br />• Simplify report writing by minimizing routine paperwork and <br />redundancy <br />• Minimize training requirements by replicating existing processes and <br />forms <br />• Increase integration with disparate systems through standardized <br />interfaces <br />• Improve quality of data through pre- submission validation <br />• Eliminate redundant data entry <br />• Expedite data entrance into Department records management system <br />and adjunct downstream systems <br />• Maximize officer presence in field <br />• Protect existing and future technology investments <br />• Reduce clerical backlog <br />• Enhance customer service through online citizen reporting <br />Goal: <br />Enhance information management and operational efficiency in the Garden Grove Police <br />Department through implementation of an automated report writing system, creating a <br />reduction in report completion time, improvement of reporting accuracy, greater customer <br />service to the public through the reduction of report completion time and availability of on- <br />line reporting, reduction of the amount of personnel and resources required to process <br />reports, and an increase in time for patrol and investigative personnel to provide direct law <br />enforcement services. <br />Activities: <br />Equipment /Supplies - Implement an automated report writing system to improve the <br />efficiency of processing and storing crime and arrest reports and field interviews. <br />Contractual Support - Contracted entities will scan and process all existing hardcopy and <br />microfiche files and purge /destroy original archived documents. <br />Activities (continuedl: <br />Training - Trainers and end users will receive training on the use and maintenance of the <br />automated report writing system, utilizing customized training materials. <br />Personnel - Officers and Desk personnel will enter all crime and arrest reports and field <br />interviews via the automated report writing system.
