Timeline or project plan: Once funding is obtained from the JAG grant program, <br />equipment items identified will be purchased after a final cost comparison is made. We <br />expect that the orders will be made for all products listed within 2 weeks to a month of <br />receipt of the grant award. These equipment items will be deployed and put to use soon <br />after they are delivered and monitoring of these items is expected to begin with two <br />months of receipt of the funding provided. Every effort will be made to purchase products <br />that are manufactured in the United States. Distributors /Businesses that offer some of the <br />selected equipment items located in the City of Laguna Niguel will also be given preference. <br />Quarterly reports on the use of the equipment and the effectiveness of the projects will be <br />evaluated and submitted. <br />Funding: <br />Total Allocation: $25,833 <br />PROACT Contribution (10 %): 2,583.30 <br />Administrative Fee (9 %): $2,324.97 <br />Funds Retained by City: $20,924.73 <br />City: Lake Forest <br />The City of Lake Forest proposes to use the 2009 justice Assistance Grant funding as <br />follows: <br />Proiect Obiectives <br />The purpose of Lake Forest's Intelligence -led Policing and Preparedness Program is the <br />reduction of criminal activity and injury traffic collisions through the use of a crime <br />analysis and mapping software program. This program provides law enforcement <br />management with timely data which allows them to most effectively deploy departmental <br />resources. This effective use of resources is intended to deter and prevent various forms of <br />criminal activity and injury traffic collisions through the use of effective personal <br />deployment, directed - enforcement operations, saturation patrols, and undercover <br />operations in support of this program's goals. <br />Goal: <br />Lake Forest Police Services personnel will use crime mapping software and emergency <br />planning software in conjunction with intelligence -based mapping information on known <br />criminals to monitor and respond to crime trends and patterns. In addition, this <br />information will be used to make daily deployment decisions in order to maximize the <br />effectiveness of personnel. Use the predictive components of the software to take <br />preventative measures that directly affect crime trends and the quality of life for the <br />citizens of Lake Forest, as well as emergency and tactical planning for law enforcement <br />response to businesses and other high profile targets within the city. <br />2009- F1801 -CA -SB Page 39 of 61 <br />
