Additionally, the number of burglaries, thefts <br />and petty crimes will be tracked to determine if they are decreasing <br />Project #2: Additional enforcement personnel staffing to reduce / prevent crime <br />Measure: The utilization of additional pro- active enforcement personnel in crime affected <br />areas will augment investigators as they work to prevent and reduce instances of <br />burglaries, thefts and other related crimes. The reduction in these crimes will serve as a <br />measure for the success of the additional patrols. <br />Timeline or project plan• Once funding is obtained from the JAG grant program, the <br />appropriate vehicle will be purchased after a final cost comparison is made. We expect that <br />the order will be made for the vehicle within a month of receipt of the grant award. The <br />vehicle will be deployed and put to use soon after it is delivered. The vehicle purchase will <br />help to stimulate the U.S. economy. <br />Fug <br />Total Allocation: $41,523 <br />PROACT Contribution: (10 %) $4,152 <br />Administrative Fee (9 %) $3737 <br />Funds Retained by City: $33,634 <br />City: Newport Beach <br />The City of Newport Beach proposes to use the 2009 Justice Assistance Grant funding <br />as follows: <br />Project Objectives (Must be linked to meaningful and measurable outcomes consistent with <br />the goals of the Recovery Act; refer to solicitation) <br />This grant will insure our agency is able to seamlessly maintain our Crime Prevention <br />services to our Community, despite mandatory budgetary reductions. This will include <br />crime prevention education to our residential and business communities, Neighborhood <br />Watch groups, and school programs. <br />Goal: <br />The goal of the program is to maintain a highly visible program dedicated to 1) Preventing <br />Crime, 2) Disseminating correct and realistic information about criminal activity and crime <br />prevention, and 3) Enhancing the perception of security within the community. <br />2009- F1801 -CA -SB Page 43 of 61 <br />
