Activities: (which can be started and completed expeditiously, and in a manner that <br />maximizes job creation and economic benefits) <br />Conduct Neighborhood watch meetings, crime prevention meetings and the distribution of <br />community crime alert bulletins to keep the community informed of current crime trends <br />in an effort to better prepare the Community to take crime prevention measures. <br />Quantifiable Performance Measures: (Established by the agency to assess whether grant <br />objectives are being met) <br />Conduct six Neighborhood Watch meetings, Six Crime Prevention meetings, and three <br />Community Crime Alert distributions. Assist with the presentation of an annual "Keep <br />Your Teen Safe" community program offered in conjunction with the Newport Mesa Unified <br />School District. <br />Timeline or project plan: (Identifying when the goals and objectives will be completed) <br />This Crime Prevention Specialist position will be continually funded throughout the life of <br />the grant. <br />Funding: <br />Total Allocation: $67,197.00 <br />PROACT Contribution: $ 6,719.70 <br />Administrative Fee (9 %): $ 6,047.73 <br />Funds Retained by City: $54,429.57 <br />City: City of Orange <br />The City of Orange proposes to use the 2009 Justice Assistance Grant funding as <br />follows: <br />Project Objectives (Must be linked to meaningful and measurable outcomes consistent <br />with the goals of the Recovery Act; refer to solicitation) <br />Digital Information Management System: The cost of this system is approximately <br />$54,000.00. The implementation of this project will enhance our ability to acquire and <br />adequately and securely store digital evidence related to crime. <br />Video Production System: The cost of this system is approximately $15,000.00. The Police -- <br />Department is required to provide State - mandated levels of training to its employees. This is <br />currently done in a traditional classroom format where the instructors are required to teach <br />the same material repeatedly to different groups of employees. Officers are taken out of <br />service to attend training sessions. This proposal will allow instructors to present their <br />material via digital video that can reside on our computer network and be viewed at the <br />2009- F1801 -CA -SB Page 44 of 61 <br />
