6. Expand and redefine the crime laboratory to include an Evidence Drying Section, <br />DNA Section, and Latent Fingerprint Processing Station. <br />7. Purchase the proper equipment to outfit the newly created DNA Section and Latent <br />Fingerprint Processing Station. <br />8. Purchase ventilated drying cabinets. Protects evidence from contamination and <br />technicians from exposure to unknown hazards by allowing for the proper handling <br />and drying storage of wet items. <br />9. Purchase stainless steel work tables, metal shelving and metal cabinets. <br />10. Purchase stainless steel evidence lockers to replace the existing wood lockers. <br />Stainless steel lockers will provide a more efficient use of space, a surface that can <br />be cleaned to avoid cross - contamination, and greater security for the preservation <br />of evidence. <br />Ouantiflable Performance Measures: (Established by the agency to assess whether grant <br />objectives are being met) <br />Meet the legal and scientific standards in the proper handling and processing of biological <br />evidence; to process evidence in a manner that meets safety standards for the evidence <br />technicians; and to more efficiently identify and collect latent fingerprint evidence through <br />the use of chemistry and light. <br />Timeline or proiect plan: (Identifying when the goals and objectives will be completed) <br />Begin construction /remodel of the present laboratory by January 1,201a and complete the <br />project including the purchase and delivery of the required equipment by June 30, 2010. <br />Funding: <br />Total Allocation: $22,822 <br />PROACT Contribution: $0.00 <br />Administrative Fee (9 %): $2,054 <br />Funds Retained by City: $20,768 <br />2009- F1801 -CA -SB Page 61 of 61 <br />
