Total number of unduplicated households (Santa Ana and Non-Santa Ana households) anticipated to be served by the funded program, named above, during the 12-month contract period. 950 Households II. Description of Work - In the space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12-month contract period. What specific activities will be undertaken during the contract period. Please be concise in your response. Only the viewable space will print. A. FAIR HOUSING COMPLIANCE: -Respond to 10 or more allegations of discrimination resulting in a case file. We will address all allegations of housing discrimination made by current or potential Santa Ana households. If investigation supports allegations or where evidence of continuing unlawful discrimination warrants additional action, we involve administrative enforcement agencies and/or legal counsel. B. COMMUNITY EDUCATION: -Involvement in at least 4 community events, and 4 community meetings reaching over 50 heads of households. Distribute about 800 information packets. Offer aposter/essay contest within elementary schools. Conduct 5 workshops on landlord-tenant and fair housing laws for tenants (3) and owners and managers (2). Provide a fair housing presentation to City staff. Provide 4 fair housing presentations to non-profit groups. Provide 3 foreclosure prevention workshops. Offer training to real estate agents, lenders, and other housing industry professionals. C. LANDLORD/TENANT COUNSELING: Handle about 1,080 requests for service, from about 940 unduplicated households, addressing about 3,340 inquiries, disputes or issues. Most discrimination occurs within the landlord/tenant relationship, so this activity is important in facilitating our agency's primary goal. About 20% of the investigative caseload originates from landlord/tenant contacts. We assist people in resolving questions and avoiding disputes over evictions, deposit returns, substandard conditions, and other landlordltenant matters. Staff counsels individuals about their respective rights and their responsibilities. An important aspect of this activity is community empowerment by educating clients and providing them resources to allow them to resolve their problem through their actions. D. CITY ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT: -Provide data collection, analysis and reporting to city CDBG administrators as well as HUD auditors as required. We will support efforts to implement actions to overcome impediments and report actions and progress to HUD.
