If not, staff will refer the client for assistance, either at our agency or
elsewhere.
For clients who are not employed, staff will update infonnation on the client's current
situation, including the client's educational program, whether the client is still in school,
when the course/program is expected to end, and the client's future intentions/prospects.
Clients who report needing further assistance will be referred to available services at our
agency or elsewhere.
Client files in the Young Adult program will be maintained for at least 5 years after the
end of the program.

3. How training and employment services lead to occupations in high growthlhigh demand
industries.
In our nearly 30 years experience with Orange County employers, we have found that
there are high technology companies in the County that have openings for workers with
skills that do not require advanced degrees. For example, heart valve sewing is an valuable
skill in medical technology, one that requires, dedication and patience to acquire, but which
can be mastered without a college degree. Electronic Assembly and CNC Machine Operator
are other examples of still-in-demand jobs requiring technical skills that can be acquired
with limited training. The future also looks bright for green technology jobs in such areas as
identifying energy saving opportunities in Orange County companies. As noted earlier,
through volunteer work with Earth Resource Foundation our clients can gain skills that will
give them an advantage in the growing areas of green technology.

4. How training and services result in career paths that lead youth towards self-sufficiency.
(Labor Market Information if training is provided.)
We anticipate that a great deal of motivational work will be necessary to encourage our
participants to believe in themselves and their ability to become successful. Since we
believe in the importance of "soft skills" for achieving long-term employment, we are not
proposing to do technical training at our agency as part of Upward Mobility. We will focus
on general skills in communication, personal presentation, and basic skills in numeracy, and
language and computer literacy, to help our participants launch successful work careers.

E.
