SERVICE'S TO BF PROVIDED <br />Description of services to be provided <br />The following is a brief description of the seminars and courses included in the <br />entrepreneurial training program in Spanish to teach participants to start their own small <br />business and to create new jobs in the community. Primarily, we serve low-to-moderate <br />income households, disabled and women-owned businesses; these are predominately <br />native Spanish-speakers with limited English-[anguage skills. <br />• 3-hour core seminars cover the fundamentals of a business, #ax regulations, <br />business plan, strategic planning, how to obtain financing, marketing, legal aspects of <br />the business, human resources and self-esteem seminars, among others topics. <br />Special emphasis is placed on technology utilization as a tool to increase productivity. <br />• 24-hour course, "Expanding My Successful Buslness" {Creciendo Mi <br />Empresa Exitosa) CMEE, is an advanced program to assist established companies to <br />build, consolidate or expand their operations targeting greater job creation/retention and <br />increased sales and profitability. The course includes technical training, management <br />classes, marketing and customer service, financial statement introduction, cash flow <br />development, and more. <br />• Business consulting, coaching and advisory board committees. After 16 <br />years of working wish Latino businesses, we are convinced that it;is ex#remely important <br />to coach and support business owners with complementary services to keep them <br />motive#ed and focused on #heir goals and to update their business knowledge in order <br />for #hem to succeed and expand their businesses in benefit of the community. This is <br />why we are providing business consulting to participants of the courses in order to help <br />#hem develop their business and marketing plan. <br />Goals established for the period 2010-2011: <br />240 participants in eight (8) 3-hour Spanish-language seminars <br />75 participants in three (3) 24-hour "Expanding My Successful Business" courses <br />Explaining the need for this business assistance program (seminars and courses) <br />in Spanish. <br />Every day we see mom-and-pop businesses closing their doors. Some have been trying <br />to sell their business for many months already; others just want to give it away because <br />they are no longer able #o pay their rent. These situations are happening all over the <br />country, but specially in low-income and minority groups. Most of the time a lack of <br />information, a failure to implement new strategies and ignorance of new technologies <br />are the causes of business failure.
