Ms. Lucy Linnaus <br />June 1, 2010 <br />Page 2 <br />a Stops should not be placed in areas where there may be outside <br />seating, such as sidewalk cafes. <br />o Stops should be placed at locations where engine noise and/or exhaust <br />fumes generated from buses will not directly affect the adjacent <br />properties. <br />Q Street furniture should be strategically placed to minimize the impact to <br />general pedestrian traffic or limit the visibility of businesses located <br />behind the furniture. <br />o Stops should be in compliance with the American Disability Act and <br />OCTA requirements for wheelchair boarding areas (see OCTA's Bus <br />Stop Safety and Design Guidelines online at www.octa.net/Uploaded <br />files/ publication _bus_guidelines.pdf). <br />o A standard bus turnout or concrete bus pad should be placed at each <br />potential stop location to minimize roadway damage. <br />In addition, the OCTA stops and zones section should be notified to provide assistance <br />with the placement of each bus stop location within the proposed project area.
