86 <br /> <br />American, or African; Asian or Asian American; Non-Hispanic and Multiple Races; <br />American Indian, Alaska Native, and Indigenous; Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander; <br />and, Middle Eastern or North African. <br />Describe the Nature and Extent of Unsheltered and Sheltered Homelessness. <br />The 2024 PIT Count shows that on January 24, 2024, throughout Orange County most <br />people experiencing homelessness were unsheltered. Of the 7,322 homeless individuals, <br />57 percent were unsheltered. Unsheltered chronically, homeless people accounted for 22 <br />percent of all homeless individuals. Among those who were reported as being homeless <br />and unsheltered (4,173 individuals), 49 percent were living with chronic substance abuse; <br />30 percent faced severe mental health issues; and ten percent had experienced domestic <br />violence. <br />Discussion <br />The January 24, 2024 PIT Count results indicate that approximately 7,322 people were <br />homeless in Orange County on any given night, with 20 percent (1,428 individuals) living <br />in Santa Ana. <br /> <br />EXHIBIT 1
