Zuniga, Diana
From: Jesenia Demesa <
Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2025 3:41 PM
To: eComment
Subject: CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana.Use caution when opening attachments or links.
As someone born and raised in Santa Ana, I've come to understand that the strength of our city lies in its unity, in the
way we show up for each other, care for one another, and celebrate the diversity that makes Santa Ana beautiful. Like
any strong community,we rely on leaders who lead with empathy, integrity, and courage, leaders who understand that
their role is to protect, not abandon, the people they serve.
Once again, Mayor Amezcua has shown that the safety and dignity of our community are not her priority. In a moment
when our people are being harmed, targeted and brutalized, she has chosen silence. Her absence speaks volumes.
Rather than standing with the people of Santa Ana, she has turned her back on us.
Her words have vilified those who are speaking out for justice. Her inaction has allowed the Santa Ana Police
Department to use violence against peaceful community members — treating us not as citizens to be protected, but as
threats to be controlled. There is clear and disturbing evidence: people walking peacefully have been shot with rubber
bullets, others harmed by chemical weapons. This violence cannot be normalized. It cannot be ignored.
Mayor Amezcua, city council, it is your duty, your responsibility, and your obligation to protect the people of Santa Ana
— all of us. You were elected to lead, not hide. We will not forget that in this moment, you chose silence over solidarity.
To the residents: if our so-called leaders refuse to stand for our well-being and safety, then we
must stand for each other. Do not fall for the propaganda spreading through the media,
propaganda that seeks to dismiss or belittle what we and our loved ones have experienced during
this time. Our strength is in our care for one another, and I am proud of our resilience and unity in
the face of it all.
Thank you
