Zuniga, Diana
From: Bean Lopez <
Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2025 4:03 PM
To: eComment
Subject: General Public Comment, 06.17.25, City Council Meeting
Attention:This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Good afternoon,
My name is Berenise and I live in Ward 6 in Santa Ana. I am not surprised by the lectures and complaints from members
from city council during the protests this past week. For those who were upset by the small percentage of disruption,
perhaps being there on the front lines of this protest would have helped. Getting tear-gassed three times, while
exercising my right to protest, seems a poor way to honor those who fought for that very right. While mayor Amezcua
focuses on the photo op opportunities she can gain, she continuously disregards the abuse of power and
dehumanization we are still seeing in the city today. Rather than offer solutions or being a leader(or leaders because
some of you at City Council are nowhere to be seen),you can share resources and information and provide the
community you're not doing enough for, the rights they are being stripped of. Valerie, you're either choosing to
disregard or don't understand that this isn't simply an immigration issue but a blatant abuse of power by this
administration and you choosing to put your head down and ignore it just gives it the it the ammo to grow. We need a
leader that stands up for community because she represents everyone not just a few. Thanks for nothing.
1
