Zuniga, Diana
From: Brenda Gonzalez <
Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2025 4:33 PM
To: eComment
Subject: Mayor Amezcua, Where is the Accountability?
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana.Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Mayor Amezcua,
My name is Brenda Gonzalez, daughter of immigrant latinos who are all your constituents. I watched you in a conference
say that you will not raise your fist for chicanos because you need to think about your city as a whole. Mayor Amezcua,
the majority of your sanctuary city is Latinos? What do you mean you will not stand in solidarity with us?You are
supposed to be a leader yet you can't stand against the cruelty running rampant in our city's streets? Hardworking,
innocent families being torn apart. Instead, you have shamelessly, with your whole chest decided to criminalize them
and those of us who are speaking up for them. You said that there is chaos and destruction on our streets because of the
protests, can you point me to where? And if that is enough of an issue for you to speak falsely on,why have you not
criminalized the officers that are inciting violence on peaceful protesters and damaging hard working businesses with
their excessive use of force?
ICE agents are kidnapping people off our city's streets, masked, unnamed and in unmarked vehicles, will you also refuse
to stand up for those of us who are terrified of people cosplaying as ICE agents and harrassing us? Because that is very
much happening and you are doing nothing about that either. Our police are being militarized against your city, they are
being used to silence good, peaceful citizens who are rightfully angry and exercising their right to protest. This is
UNACCEPTABLE, and you are normalizing this. Did you know that tear gas is banned in warfare yet here we are, local PD
using it on LAWFUL PEACEFUL RESIDENTS.
You are a latina, silencing your own community and refusing to stand up for us.That is not who should be representing
our beautiful city of Santa Ana. We have a first amendment right to assemble and protest. The community is standing
up for our families and you should be standing right there on the frontlines with us, not against us.
Brenda Gonzalez
i
