Delivered through an
evidence-based curriculum and led by experts in finance, business, and leadership, BOY's primary goals are to help
youth: 1) improve their understanding of financial concepts and services;2) make decisions that will improve their
financial well-being;and 3)gain the leadership, teamwork, and entrepreneurship skills they need to achieve
educational and financial success.
The BOY program serves as a crucial entry point for young individuals to gain vital financial knowledge and skills. In
the coming fiscal year,TCCDC is poised to significantly expand and enhance the BOY Program, targeting an
increase in participation from 50 to up to 100 high school juniors and seniors from underserved communities
throughout Orange County. Historically serving only Santa Ana youth, in 2024,TCCDC started expanding
recruitment to meet the growing need in Orange County for financial literacy programming for teens. To truly
address barriers to financial stability, break the cycle of poverty, and promote equity among families in Orange
County, TCCDC sees an opportunity to expand the impact of our programs by partnering with other community
organizations and expanding beyond Santa Ana.The events and challenges of the past few years have underscored
the importance of engaging in collaborative partnerships with like-minded organizations that share a similar vision
for our community. As such, this year,TCCDC will continue to recruit from cities across Orange County including
Santa Ana,Anaheim, Garden Grove, Irvine,Costa Mesa,Tustin, Anaheim,Orange, and La Habra, reflecting the
growing demand for these essential services and our commitment to serving a broader community.
After a thorough recruitment process, TCCDC will launch the BOY Program with an in-person Kick-Off Event in the
Fall where each student will be given a laptop to support their participation in the program. Following this event,
to better equip students to make informed financial decisions, BOY participants will attend financial literacy
classes based on the evidence-based Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's(FDIC) Money Smart Curriculum that
covers financial concepts such as budgeting, saving, choosing and maintaining a checking account, setting financial
goals, financing for college, entrepreneurship, and the importance of investing.Additionally, BOY offers hands-on
learning experiences, including field trips to local small and large businesses, mentorship with business
EXHIBIT A
