The primary objective of this legislation <br />is to restrict local governments from imposing parking regulations on commercial and <br />residential projects that are located within 0.5-mile of a major transit stop. AB 2097 defines <br />major transit stop as an existing rail or bus rapid transit station, a ferry terminal served by <br />either a bus or rail transit service, or the intersection of two or more major bus routes with a <br />frequency of service interval of 20 minutes or less during the morning and afternoon peak <br />commute periods. <br />The proposed project requires 107 parking spaces subject to Section 41-1341 of the SAMC. <br />However, the subject site is located within 0.5-mile of a major transit stop.
