and normal workday for all employees. The regular and normal workday for <br /> sworn, "safety-member" police personnel assigned to Traffic and Patrol <br /> shall be a tour of duty of eight and one-half (8 1/2) hours with one-half <br /> (1/2) hour for meals (Code 7 time) and for all others nine (9) hours with <br /> one (1) hour for Code 7 time, which Code 7 time shall not be considered <br /> overtime and is not otherwise compensable except as provided in the <br /> Settlement Agreement executed by the parties hereto on November 21, 1977, <br /> and including Field Operations Divisional Order No. 15, dated February 15, <br /> 1978, and attached to said Settlement Agreement as "Exhibit A." <br /> B. Minimum Workweek. The minimum workweek for all employees <br /> covered by this Agreement shall consist of forty (40) hours. <br /> C. Workweek Schedule During Schedule Changes. Effective upon <br /> the execution of this Agreement, the City agrees to implement the following <br /> policy when scheduling days off during shift, assignment or other schedule <br /> changes; except in cases of emergency or other situations requiring days <br /> off for employees to be affected by a shift, work assignments or other <br /> schedule changes, to schedule no more and no less than five (5) regular and <br /> normal workdays, as defined in subsection A above, during any calendar <br /> week; however, and except in cases of emergency, no employee shall be <br /> scheduled to work more than five (5) consecutive days without the <br /> employee's consent. It is the intent of the parties that each employee so <br /> affected, shall receive two (2) consecutive days off whenever practical. <br /> For purposes of this subsection, a calendar week begins at 0001 <br /> hours on Sunday and ends at 2400 hours on the following Saturday. <br /> ARTICLE IV - SALARIES <br /> Section 1. Basic Compensation Plan. There is hereby established a <br /> basic compensation plan for all members of the Santa Ana Police Benevolent <br /> Association who are now employed or will in the future by employed in any <br /> of the designated classifications of employment listed in this Agreement <br /> and its attachments. <br /> Section 2. Salary Schedule. The basic salary schedule, attached <br /> hereto in a matrix format as Exhibit A, and made a part hereof as though <br /> set forth in full herein, provides numerous salary rate ranges, each <br /> comprised of five (5) steps or rates of pay. <br /> The respective rate ranges are identified by a three digit number. <br /> The steps within each range are identified by the letters "A" through "E" <br /> inclusive, with the "A" step being the lowest step in the range. The <br /> purpose of each step and the length of service required for advancement to <br /> the next higher step within a particular salary rate range are set forth in <br /> Section 7 below. <br /> Section 3.
