during prescribed hours without approval of the Chief of Police or <br /> his designee (s) . <br /> Section 2 . 3\12 - 4\12 Work Schedule . Effective February 1, <br /> 1994 , the City will implement a 3/12 - 4/12 Plan for Sworn Officers <br /> assigned to regular patrol on rotating shifts covering 24 hours and <br /> for Detention Officers and Detention Supervisors assigned to the <br /> jail . <br /> Section 3 . Definitions of Terms For Employees Assigned To <br /> 5/8 Work Schedule . <br /> A. Workday. For sworn and non-sworn employees not <br /> assigned to 3/12 - 4/12 work schedule, or another alternative work <br /> schedule, eight (8) hours shall constitute a regular workday, <br /> except for sworn officers on designated assignments, for whom the <br /> workday will constitute nine (9) hours . Employees assigned to 8- <br /> 1/2 hours will receive one-half (1/2) hour of unpaid lunch and <br /> employees assigned to nine (9) hours will receive one (1) hour of <br /> unpaid lunch. The unpaid lunch time for sworn officers (Code 7 <br /> time) shall not be considered overtime and is not otherwise <br /> compensated except as provided in the Settlement Agreement executed <br /> by the parties hereto on November 21, 1977 . <br /> B. Minimum Workweek. The minimum workweek for all <br /> employees covered by this Section shall consist of forty (40) <br /> hours . <br /> C. Workweek Schedule During Schedule Changes . The City <br /> agrees to continue the following policy when scheduling days off <br /> during shift, assignment or other schedule changes : except in cases <br /> of emergency or other situations requiring days off, the City may <br /> schedule employees impacted by a shift, work assignments or other <br /> schedule changes, to a schedule no more and no less than five (5) <br /> regular and normal workdays, as defined in subsection A above, <br /> during any calendar week; however, and except in cases of <br /> emergency, no employee shall be scheduled to work more than five <br /> (5) consecutive days without the employee' s consent . It is the <br /> intent of the parties that each employee so affected, shall receive <br /> two (2) consecutive days off whenever practical . <br /> For purposes of this Subsection, a calendar week begins <br /> at 0001 hours on Sunday and ends at 2400 hours on the following <br /> Saturday. <br /> Section 4 . Definitions of Terms for Employees Assigned to <br /> 3/12 - 4/12 Work Schedule <br /> A. Workday. A workday for employees assigned to 3/12 - 4/12 <br /> Work Schedule will consist of 11 hours and 30 minutes of work with <br /> 30 additional minutes for meals (Code 7) . <br /> 3 <br />
