differential, special skill pay or the like, except when placement at "E" step will not be <br /> sufficient to provide a one (1)salary step, approximately five percent(5.0%) increase. <br /> 4.11 Demotion <br /> When an employee is demoted to a position in a lower classification, their salary rate shall <br /> be fixed in the appropriate salary range for the lower classification in accordance with the <br /> following provisions: <br /> A. The salary rate shall be reduced by at least one (t) salary step, which is <br /> approximately five percent(5.0%). <br /> B. The new salary rate must be within the appropriate salary range. <br /> C. The new salary rate shall not be higher than the salary step to which the employee <br /> would have been entitled had their service time in the higher classification been <br /> spent in the lower classification. <br /> 4.12 Reallocation of Salary Ran es <br /> Any employee who is employed in a classification which is reallocated to a different salary <br /> range from that previously assigned shall be retained in the same salary step in the new <br /> salary rate range as they had previously held in the prior rate range and shall retain credit <br /> for length of service in such step towards advancement to the next higher step. <br /> 4.13 Request for Classification Review <br /> A. Any employee who, for a period exceeding one(1)year, believes they are regularly <br /> and consistently performing duties and/or responsibilities not in conformance with <br /> their classification or, duties and/or responsibilities of another classification, may <br /> request a classification review of their position through their supervisor to the <br /> Department Head. The employee must submit their request on a form specified by <br /> the Executive Director of Human Resources, outlining in writing how they believe <br /> their current duties and/or responsibilities differ from their classification. <br /> B. The Department Head shall review the employee's submitted request and within <br /> sixty(60) calendar days will make one (1) of the following determinations: <br /> 1. Will support the employee's request. <br /> a. If the Department Head supports the employee's request for a classification <br /> review, they shall forward the request to the Executive Director of Human <br /> Resources along with justification for support of the employee's request. <br /> b.
