EXHIBIT 1 <br />AP-65 Homeless and Other Special Needs Activities — 91.220(i) <br />Introduction <br />The City of Santa Ana places a high priority on assisting households experiencing or at risk of <br />experiencing homelessness, and households with other non -homeless special needs. According to the <br />results of the January 2024, PIT Count in approximately7,322 individuals were experiencing <br />homelessness. The City of Santa Ana conducted their own PIT Count for the City and were able to a total <br />501 individulas were experiencing homelessness. <br />Analysis of available data and consultation with organizations providing services for special needs <br />populations revealed a need for a range of services including but not limited to those concerned with <br />disabled adults. The City strives to meet these needs through the access to public housing, expanded <br />access to affordable housing, and public services and services specifically for individuals and households <br />experiencing and at risk of experiencing homelessness. <br />Describe the jurisdictions one-year goals and actions for reducing and ending homelessness <br />including <br />Reaching out to homeless persons (especially unsheltered persons) and assessing their <br />individual needs <br />Preventing and ending homelessness is a HUD priority addressed nationally through coordination of <br />regional strategies and carried out locally by government agencies and a wide variety of community - <br />based organizations and faith -based groups. Consistent with this approach, the City supports the CoC <br />and its member organizations that address homelessness. In alignment with this strategy, the City <br />established the homeless services goal. The street outreach aspects of that goal will be implemented <br />through the activities of the Interval Housing, Covenant House, and SAPD HEART program. <br />Addressing the emergency shelter and transitional housing needs of homeless persons <br />The City established the homeless services goal to address the need to increase access to and the supply <br />of homeless services and facilities.
