(PAUSE) And are you a Spanish speaker for the department as well <br />like do they do a test for that to recognize your Spanish skills? <br />GARCIA: Yes. <br />SMITH: Okay. When you were talking about you were able see from your position <br />you were talking about the mirror, would that be the mirror on the <br />suspect vehicle driver side on the outside of the vehicle? <br />GARCIA: Yes. <br />SMITH: Any obstruction in that view? <br />GARCIA: No. <br />SMITH: What would you estimate your, your distance from the front of your <br />patrol unit to the suspect vehicle? <br />GARCIA: I’d say within 15 feet. <br />SMITH: You discussed being offset and I’m guessing at some point these other <br />vehicles came up, did your commands start before or after these vehicles <br />arrived? <br />GARCIA: I don’t even recall when they vehicles arrived. Um, my attention was off <br />to the driver making sure he didn’t come out *** anything as a threat. <br />SMITH: Do you recall if the unit would be to your passenger side parked along the <br />curb line in this picture number one here? If that car…was there when <br />you initiated a stop? <br />GARCIA: I don’t recall.
