So you retrieved your, uh, your rifle from the trunk and you go to <br />the front of the vehicle and then you have that at your ready and then <br />you said you heard a gunshot. <br />SHIFFLETT: Yes, sir. <br />SMITH: Okay. Uh, was there any either announcements either by officers in <br />person or over the radio or you said you heard it was there, did you learn <br />before, strike that *** sorry. Did you learn at that time that he had shot <br />himself or shot at officers? You said you didn’t know immediately but at <br />some time after… <br />SHIFFLETT: Right. <br />SMITH: …did you get any report? <br />SHIFFLETT: It, it came…they put out over the radio, uh, that shots were fired no <br />officer…so they put out shots fired but no 998 which is officer involved <br />shooting so. <br />SMITH: Okay. <br />SHIFFLETT: They put out that no officers fired, uh, and they put out that suspect, uh, <br />shot himself. <br />SMITH: Okay. Uh, and after that shot came out and I think you said you, is that <br />when you made your weapon ready there your rifle? <br />SHIFFLETT: Yes, sir. <br />SMITH: Okay. And from there you went to this position in picture three where <br />you went to the tree for cover. <br />SHIFFLETT: Correct, sir.
