How did that make you feel? <br />SHIFFLETT: Uh, I went into just protective mode I’m not gonna let anybody harm my <br />brothers. <br />SMITH: Okay. Uh, were you in fear for their safety? <br />SHIFFLETT: Yes, sir. <br />SMITH: Were you in fear for your own? <br />SHIFFLETT: Uh, yes sir. <br />SMITH: Okay. <br />SHIFFLETT: More so, more so their safety than mine cuz that’s where his *** the <br />direct threat was or the direct harm was to them, uh, but he just easily <br />could have turned towards me and started shooting as well. <br />SMITH: And when you say the direct threat was to them is that because when he <br />stepped out of the vehicle and you identified that he had a gun in his left <br />hand he is facing more towards the vehicle or directly behind him versus <br />you at a position of cover West of him? <br />SHIFFLETT: Yes, sir. <br />SMITH: Okay. Uh, do you know how many offices shot or could you identify at <br />that time? <br />SHIFFLETT: Uh, no sir. <br />SMITH: What is… <br />SHIFFLETT: I heard other shots but I didn’t, I couldn’t tell how many were firing? <br />SMITH: And you believe you shot four to five rounds?
