Santa Ana Police Department Homicide Section Detective Sergeant M. Lemmon #3174 notified me of an officer <br />involved shooting that occurred at 200 N. Broadway in the city of Santa Ana. Sergeant Lemmon requested that I <br />respond to the scene in order to assist with the investigation. <br />1842 hours: <br />I arrived at the southern perimeter of the crime scene. Uniformed police officers in marked patrol units were providing <br />security for the crime scene, preventing access into the scene by unauthorized vehicular and pedestrian personnel. <br />2017 hours: <br />I checked into the scene with Santa Ana Police Department Patrol Officer A. Carrillo #3424, the designated scene <br />scribe. <br />2018 hours: <br />Santa Ana Police Department Patrol Sergeant L. Barragan #2937 conducted a briefing with detectives from the <br />Homicide Section and investigators from the California Department of Justice, regarding the initial response to the <br />scene and the preliminary investigation done by patrol personnel. <br /> <br />Sergeant Barragan informed us that on December 1, 2024, at approximately 1708 hours, Santa Ana Police <br />Department Communications received a call for service regarding a male armed with a shotgun at 1st Street and <br />Spurgeon Street. Santa Ana Police Department Patrol Officers were initially unable to locate the suspect during an <br />area check. At approximately 1732 hours, communications received an additional call for service regarding a male <br />loading a rifle. At approximately 1733 hours, an officer involved shooting occurred on Broadway north of 1st Street. <br /> <br />Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) Engine #75 personnel subsequently responded to the scene. The suspect, <br />identified as was transported to Orange County Global Medical Center. At 1826 hours, <br />was pronounced deceased by Dr. at 1826 hours. <br /> <br />Patrol officers checked the area for surveillance footage and witnesses. Two witnesses were located, identified as <br /> and and they were transported to the Santa Ana <br />Police Department. <br /> <br />Numerous items of evidence were located at the scene including a replica shotgun, expended cartridge cases, a <br />handgun magazine, and expended 40 mm less lethal ammunition. <br /> <br />Furthermore, Sergeant Barragan stated was involved in an incident involving a replica firearm with the <br />Santa Ana Police Department in the area of 3rd Street and Ross Street on November 26, 2024. The incident was <br />documented under Santa Ana Police Department case number 24-25754. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of the briefing, I was assigned to return to the police station and obtain any radio transmission from <br />our Dispatch Center. <br />Santa Ana PD 2024-26142 Report by Enriquez, David 3082 46 of 90
