•CHELSEY COVERT Senior Forensic Specialist (Photography / Sketching) <br />•FELICIA BURKE Forensic Scientist (Evidence collection) <br />•STEPHANIE ESPINOZA Forensic Specialist (measurements / Sketching) <br />SCENE DESCRIPTION <br />The weather was clear with a high of 61 degrees and a low of 57 degrees. The shooting occurred at approximately <br />1841 hours, during the hours of daylight on the street in front of 523 South Rosewood Avenue. The scene was <br />cordoned off with yellow and red police tape and uniformed SAPD personnel were stationed to prevent access to <br />and preserve evidence within the scene. SAPD Officers GABRIEL CARDONA , BRODERICK GOENS and CARLOS <br />CORREA maintained a log documenting all personnel entering and exiting the scene. <br />523 South Rosewood Avenue was a single-family residential home. It was the third house north of West Bishop <br />Street along the east side of the street. The residence was described to have gray-colored stucco walls with white <br />trim, white window trims, and a gray shingle roof. The numbers "523" were displayed on a white wooden pole in the <br />patio to the front of the residence. <br />South Rosewood Avenue was a north / south composite asphalt roadway with raised concrete curbs and concrete <br />sidewalks on both east and west sides. There are driveway aprons leading to each residence on the street. <br />VEHICLES IN SCENE <br />There were ten (10) civilian vehicles and three (3) SAPD vehicles within the scene. The vehicles are described as <br />follows: <br />Vehicle #1 - 2006, silver, Toyota Tacoma, California license . The registered owner was , <br />. The vehicle was parked facing north along the east curb of S <br />Rosewood Avenue. The vehicle was parked in front of 531 S Rosewood Ave. The driver side door was open. <br />Vehicle #2 - 2007, gray, Chevrolet Tahoe, California license The registered owner was <br />. The vehicle was parked facing north along the east curb <br />of S Rosewood Ave. The vehicle was parked in front of 527 S Rosewood Avenue. <br />Vehicle #3 - 2021, black and white, Ford Explorer, California exempt license 1607880, Unit #851 (Equipment ID# <br />60314). Registered to the city of Santa Ana, Ca 92701. The vehicle was parked facing north on S Rosewood <br />Avenue parallel to vehicle #2. The engine was running. The vehicle arrived after the OIS occurred. <br />Vehicle #4 - 2015, black and white, Ford Explorer, California exempt license 1478141, K9 Unit #890 (Equipment ID# <br />59998). Registered to the city of Santa Ana, CA 92701. The vehicle was parked facing north on S Rosewood <br />Avenue parallel to vehicle #5. The engine was running. A police K9 dog was in the back seat. The vehicle arrived <br />after the OIS occurred. <br />Vehicle #5 - 2011, black and white, Ford Crown Victoria, California exempt license 1408784, Unit #816 (Equipment <br />ID# 59898). Registered to the city of Santa Ana, Ca 92701. The vehicle was parked facing north on S Rosewood <br />Avenue north of vehicle #2 and south of vehicle #6. The engine was running and the emergency lights were on (the <br />lights were later turned off as it interfered with the crime lab photos). Both the driver side and front passenger doors <br />were fully opened. Inside the vehicle were two straight stick batons tucked between the ceiling of the car and the <br />cage. There was a shot gun secured in the gun rack located between the driver and front passenger. The shot gun <br />was labeled "837" in white paint. In the trunk were black gear bags and tactical vests. The vehicle was at the scene <br />at the time of OIS. The vehicle was photographed and released to SAPD. <br />Vehicle #6 - 2003, black, GMC Yukon XL, California license 8LLY741. Registered to , <br />. The vehicle was parked facing north along the east curb of S Rosewood <br />Avenue. The vehicle was parked parallel to the driveway apron for 523 S Rosewood Avenue just south of vehicle <br />#7. The vehicle's engine was running and the front passenger door, driver side rear passenger door and rear hatch <br />door were fully opened. The vehicle was on scene at the time of the OIS. There did not appear to be any damage <br />made to the vehicle as a result of the OIS. The vehicle was released to SAPD. Officer NICKOLAS CAVENDISH had <br />the vehicle towed to B&D Tow at the conclusion of the scene investigation. <br />Vehicle #7 - 2013, silver, Volkswagen Passat, California license .
