SCOPE OF SERVICES <br />• Log of Test Borings (6) <br />• Total Sheets: 36 <br />8.4.2 Independent Check (non-std walls) <br />Mark Thomas will perform an independent design <br />check of the retaining walls in conformance with <br />Caltrans bridge design procedures. The <br />independent check will be completed by an <br />engineer who was not involved in the original <br />design of the structure. Calculations will be <br />performed to check the layouts and structural <br />integrity. Upon completion of the independent <br />check, discrepancies between the designer and <br />checker will be reconciled and plans updated. <br />8.5 Entry Pavilion/Canopy Remodel <br />Pavilion Structures work consists of removing <br />existing Entry Pavilion and portion of existing <br />Canopy structure, replacing new Entry Pavilion <br />Structure matching existing Entry Pavilion at the <br />new entry location. Mark Thomas will prepare <br />structural calculations and plans for the Pavilion <br />Structures. For the purposes of this scope of work, <br />it is assumed that new Pavilion Entry Structure will <br />match existing and City will provide all as -built <br />plans for the existing Canopy structure and Entry <br />Pavilion Structure. The structure design will be in <br />accordance with California Building Code (CBC, <br />2025), California Existing Building Code (CEBC, <br />2025) and ASCE 7-22. It is assumed that the <br />following plan sheets will be prepared: <br />Pavilion Structure Sheet Description <br />• Structural general notes, design criteria, <br />special inspections (2) <br />• Structural demolition plan (1) <br />• Demolition details, sequencing, temporary <br />shoring, and protection notes (1) <br />• Structure Site Plan (1) <br />• Pavilion Foundation Plan (1) <br />• Pavilion Roof Framing Plan (1) <br />• Pavilion Elevation and Sections (1) <br />• Platform Canopy Details (1) <br />• Canopy Foundation Plan and Framing <br />Plan (1) <br />• Platform and Connection Details (1) <br />• Additional Concrete Details (1) <br />• Additional Canopy Details (2) <br />• Total Sheets: 14 <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SANTA ANA BOULEVARD GRADE SEPARATION z. <br />MARK THOMAS <br />Mark Thomas will perform an independent design <br />check of the Pavilion Structures in conformance <br />with CBC, CEBC, and ASCE 7 design <br />requirements. Upon completion of the <br />independent check, discrepancies between the <br />designer and checker will be reconciled and plans <br />updated. <br />8.6 Aesthetics <br />Structure aesthetics concept design and details will <br />be prepared during PS&E for bridge and retaining <br />walls, including up to one (1) plan sheet, one (1) <br />section sheet and two (2) detail sheets to support <br />the MT Transportation and Structure Team. The <br />aesthetic design scope assumes one design per <br />component, including the bridge barrier, pedestrian <br />overcrossing barrier, fence, and retaining walls. <br />8.7 Geotechnical Investigation & Report <br />Geotechnical design shall be conducted in <br />conformance with current City, Caltrans, and <br />SCRRA standards, design manuals„ and <br />requirements. <br />Consultant shall conduct a site visit to observe the <br />topography and visualize the proposed <br />improvements at the project location. Consultant <br />shall review available subsurface data from nearby <br />structures or published geologic maps, to <br />determine general subsurface conditions at the <br />project site. Geotechnical borings shall be <br />performed by the Consultant. <br />Consultant shall provide geotechnical, geologic <br />and seismic design recommendations. Consultant <br />shall provide geotechnical and foundation <br />recommendations for roadway, bridges, retaining <br />walls, and other structures as required. <br />Consultant shall prepare a preliminary <br />geotechnical report with information gathered <br />during the site visit and review of existing <br />subsurface data, geotechnical borings, results <br />obtained from the alternative analysis and the <br />preliminary bridge and retaining wall foundation <br />data. <br />
