Santa Ana PD 2013-17495: Crime Report by #3023 Page 4 of 6 <br />Monta Vista is 25mph. McFadden Avenue is to the south of the alley. McFadden is a two-way, four-lane <br />(2 lanes for each direction of travel), east/west, asphalt paved road with apartment complexes on the <br />north side and single family residential homes on the south side. <br />The east alley of 805 S. Townsend Street had two marked black and white Santa Ana Police Department <br />Police cars parked along the east side of the alley. The Santa Ana Police cars were parked facing north. <br />The Santa Ana Police cars were parked in a manner which Police car #880 was the furthest north and <br />was approximately 2' south of 805 S. Townsend Street garage #1. Santa Ana Police car #854 was <br />parked directly behind Police car #880. <br />A plastic gray toy handgun with a black handle was on the asphalt in the east alley of 805 S. Townsend <br />Street. The toy handgun was on the west side of the alley, approximately 3' south of garage #1. North of <br />garage #1 also on the west side alley's asphalt was a used syringe which had the needle covered by an <br />orange cap. The syringe appeared to be related to narcotics, it did not have a sterile appearance as if it <br />could be used for any medical purposes. Along with the syringe, a pair of Peerless handcuffs and <br />medical paraphernalia which appeared to be an LV. bag and a breathing bag were on the asphalt. Next to <br />the syringe, handcuffs and medical paraphernalia was apparent blood on the asphalt. <br />805 S. Townsend Street has two garage structures in the east alley. The garage structures have a short <br />driveway which is west from the directional north/south east alley. The garages are numbered #1 -#10. <br />Garages #1 -#5 are south of the driveway. Garages #6 -#10 are north of the driveway. Some garages <br />are missing numbers however there is a number pattern. <br />Parked in the driveway between the two garage structures were four vehicles. Parked at the northwest <br />portion of the driveway was a Gray 2000 GMC Yukon with California license plate # Parked <br />immediately south of the GMC Yukon was a Blue 2002 Ford Explorer with a California license plate <br /># Parked at the southwest portion of the driveway was a Gray 2007 GMC Sierra with <br />California license plate # Parked at the southeast portion of the driveway directly behind the <br />GMC Yukon was a Silver 2003 Nissan Xterra with California license plate # Parked <br />immediately south of the Nissan Xterra was a Black 1993 Honda Accord with a California license plate <br /># <br />Summary: <br />On Sunday 06/23/2013, at approximately 0807 hours, Santa Ana Police Officers G. Ayala #3294 and S. <br />Esquivel #3295 were patrolling the east alley of 800 S. Townsend Street. The Santa Ana Police Officers <br />were both driving marked black and white Santa Ana Police cars and wearing their Santa Ana Police <br />Department Police unifonns. Santa Ana Police Officers Ayala and Esquivel were involved in an Officer <br />Involved Shooting. Both Officers used their duty weapons to fire at the suspect. Officer Ayala fired in a <br />northern direction and Officer Esquivel fired in a western direction. The suspect fell to the ground and <br />was subsequently handcuffed. Approximately four feet south of the suspect, a gray plastic toy handgun <br />with a black handle was found. The suspect was found to be in possession of a syringe with an orange <br />cap. Two unidentified subjects fled the scene and were not located.
