Sergeant O. Lizardi stated the Santa Ana Police Department Gang Unit along with the Orange County Probation <br />Department were conducting gang suppression in the area of 1800 E. Evergreen. During this time an Officer Involved <br />Shooting occurred. Sergeant O. Lizardi stated Detective E. Solorio #3249 was involved in the shooting. Detective E. <br />Solorio provided a safety statement indicating he was involved in the shooting and no other suspects were <br />outstanding. <br />At the conclusion of the briefing, I was assigned to partner up with OCDA Investigator P. Montez and respond to OC <br />Global Medical Center located at 1001 N. Tustin Ave., in the City of Santa Ana to make contact with the suspect. <br />Tuesday, March 2, 2019, 0005 hours: <br />Investigator P. Montez and I contacted Officer J. Peralta to advise him we would be checking out of the crime scene <br />and responded to OC Global Medical Center. <br />0015 hours: <br />We arrived at OC Global Medical Center. <br />0025 hours: <br />We made contact with Registered Nurse who stated the suspect Oscar Alvarado Penaloza DOB: <br />05/16/96 with Acct: , MRN: arrived to the ER with a gunshot wound to the left forearm. She <br />said the gunshot wound was a through and through injury. She stated the suspect was complaining of pain and told <br />them he was taking medication for schizophrenia. told us Alvarado was taken to the Operating Room because <br />they could not find a pulse. At this time, walked us to the OR waiting area were we met with Officer¶s Liggett <br />#3488 and Henderson #3518. <br />0147 hours: <br />Vascular Surgeon came out of the surgery and stated the surgery was complete. He stated Alvarado Penaloza <br />sustained a broken bone on his left arm and nerve injury. <br />Alvarado Penaloza was taken to the recovery room where he remained until he was transported to CCU bed #16. <br />Alvarado Penaloza was administered a sedative to help him relax. <br />0350 hours: <br />Officers Phan #3414 and Meyers #3389 relieved Officers Liggett #3488 and Henderson #3518. Officers Phan and <br />Meyers remained at the hospital with suspect Alvarado Penaloza. <br />0430 hours: <br />Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Department Lead Forensic Specialist L. Pena-Sanchez arrived to the hospital to take <br />photos and collect the clothing of suspect Alvarado Penaloza. <br />0445 hours: <br />Investigator Montez and I cleared OC Global Medical Center. <br />Author: Nunez, Eddie 2564 BWC NOT Activated BWC Inactive Reason: None Issued <br />Santa Ana PD 2019-05804 5 of 5
