TJ - 12/04/08 <br />• <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008-33 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION <br />OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DENYING <br />NEIGHBORHOOD PROJECT REVIEW NO. 2008-01 <br />TO PERMIT THE REHABILITATION OF THE FRONT <br />PORCH AT 919 NORTH LACY LOCATED WITHIN <br />THE SPECIFIC DEVELOPMENT NO. 19 ZONE (SD- <br />19) (FRENCH PARK) <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Planning Commission of the City of Santa Ana hereby <br />finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. The property owner is requesting approval of Neighborhood Project <br />Review No. 2008-01 to permit the rehabilitation of the existing front <br />porch landing and entry steps, which rehabilitation involves <br />changing the existing concrete surface of the landing and steps by <br />applying red brick veneer on the porch surface and Saltillo clay tiles <br />• to the facing of the stair risers and maintaining the existing posts <br />and wood railing, for the property located at 919 North Lacy, which <br />is located within the Specific Development 19 (SD-19) Zoning <br />District (French Park). <br />B. The proposed rehabilitation to the front porch landing and entry <br />steps has been previously completed by the owner absent the <br />required reviews by the Historic Resources Commission for a <br />Historic External Modification Application, the French Park <br />Architectural Design Commission, or the Planning Commission for <br />a Neighborhood Project Review. <br />C. Pursuant to Santa Ana Municipal Code section 30-6, the Historic <br />Resources Commission held a duly noticed public hearing on <br />November 6, 2008 for the request for exterior modifications of the <br />historic Straub House located at 919 North Lacy, Santa Ana, and <br />denied the proposed Historic Exterior Modification Application <br />(HEMA No. 2008-03) based on its determination that that the <br />proposed brick and the material was not historically appropriate. <br />D. The French Park Architectural Review Committee has reviewed the <br />proposed porch rehabilitation and recommended that the brick <br />veneer and the be removed and the porch and steps be restored to <br />• a historically appropriate material. <br />Resolution No. 2008-33 <br />Page 1 of 5 <br />
