Adopt a resolution denying Variance No. 2002-09. <br />C <br />Wayne Avrashow, Attorney for Applicant, noted disagreement with staff's findings <br />commenting on the applicant's disclosing his intent to install 37 partitions. <br />Commissioner Leo noted the applicant has operated for 13 years and has stamped <br />plans with the partitions and a certificate of occupancy noting concern about shutting <br />down mall after 13 years of operation. <br />Discussion ensued on the parking requirements, certificate of occupancy, tenants and <br />the partitions. <br />Motion to: <br />1. Adopt a resolution denying Conditional Use Permit No. 2002-14. <br />Chairman Nalle noted that the public hearing had been opened and closed at the <br />September 23, 2002 meeting. <br />Ann Ni, Planning Associate, noted the item was continued on September 23 to examine <br />the plans approved by the City in September 1989. The applicant alleged that the <br />approved plans allowed an indoor swapmeet use. Under careful examination, the plans <br />were approved for a single tenant retail use in the building. <br />2. DRIVE-THROUGH RESTAURANT POLICY DISCUSSION <br />Staff requested that item be continued to the next meeting due to time constraints. <br />rl <br />~J <br />H. SANTA ANA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BRANDING CAMPAIGN <br />Michael Metzler, Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, provided <br />background information on the Chamber Branding Campaign in which they hired DGWB <br />Advertising who engaged in a year-long analysis. Mr. Metzler then introduced Mark <br />Weisman and Jon Gothold of DGWB. Mr. Weisman commented on the input from City <br />officials, constituents, and potential residents of Santa Ana that helped create the <br />program. He discussed the positive points of civic pride, an active downtown, diverse <br />social fabric cultural renaissance, an up-to-date and creative urban environment and <br />economic re-growth. The four major areas noted for comments were: city of neighbors, <br />city of creativity, city of business solutions, and city of momentum. He commented on <br />the positive and negative perceptions of Santa Ana, addressed them, and discussed <br />recommendations. Mr. Gothold commented on input received and the advertisement <br />campaign "Santa Ana - A Spirit of Change." <br />COMMISSION RECESSED AT 6:5~ P.M. <br />RECONVENED AT 7:04 P.M.
