Commissioner Richardson <br />• Requested an update of the status of the Big Saver sign at 400 W. 17th Street. <br />• Noted the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway has a number of billboards with electronic reader <br />boards and asked if this was permitted. <br />• Requested that staff investigate the placement of the public phones at 5th and Harbor and <br />900 N. Harbor. <br />• Noted that the Downtown directional signs look very good. <br />Commissioner Leo <br />• Noted that the traffic situation is getting worse and asked staff to investigate if there is <br />anything that Planning Commission could do. <br />• Requested an update on the status of residential motels. Ms. Nelson advised that several <br />meetings have been held and a proposal from the Community Development Council is <br />under consideration. The second phase will include relocation. The Commission will be <br />advised when the proposal is finalized. <br />• Noted that he had observed two additional signs at O'Neil Moving & Storage and asked for <br />staff to investigate possible action. <br />Chairman Nalle <br />• Requested clarification of what Commissioner Leo was referring to with regard to traffic. <br />Commissioner Leo advised that the neighborhoods need relief and protection from the <br />increased traffic. Ms. Nelson advised that the Executive Director of the Public Works <br />Agency will be invited to provide an update. <br />• Noted that he had read an article in the Times stating that Santa Ana was designated as the <br />number one tree planting city. <br />7.
