Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Award a contract to All American Asphalt, the lowest responsible bidder, in accordance with <br />unit bid prices in the estimated amount of $328,000 for construction of Santiago Street from <br />Sixth Street to Santa Ana Boulevard, and authorize the City Manager to execute necessary <br />change orders in an amount not to exceed the contract plus approved contingency. <br />2. Approve a funding analysis with a total estimated construction cost of $463,300. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Santiago Street from Sixth Street to Santa Ana Boulevard has been identified as a high priority by <br />the City's Pavement Management System (Exhibit 1). The pavement is deteriorating due to <br />weather, age, and heavy usage. Some of the adjacent curbs, gutters, driveway approaches, curb <br />ramps, and sidewalks are also in various states of disrepair and require replacement. This project <br />provides for construction of new street pavement, and replacement of damaged concrete curbs <br />and gutters. Once completed, these improvements will enhance the ride quality, surface drainage, <br />and appearance of the street. <br />The Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on November 29 and December 1, 2010, and bids were <br />opened on December 21, 2010.
