ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT NO. 98-02 <br />Filed by the City of Santa Ana to amend the City codes pertaining to wireless communication <br />facilities. <br />(Continued by the Planning Commission February 23, 1998 to March 9, 1998) <br />LEGALLY NOTICED: February 15, 1998 <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />1. Recommend that the City Council adopt an ordinance approving Zoning Ordinance <br />Amendment No. 98-02. <br />2. Recommend that the City Council approve the wireless communication facilities standard <br />conditions. <br />Mr. Vince Fregoso, Associate Planner and Mr. Charles View, Community Development Agency, <br />provided an overview of the staff report and discussed the proposed wireless ordinance. <br />Ms. Barbara Satto expressed her concerns regarding the five year sunset clause. She mentioned that <br />many City's were considering the clause in their model ordinances but had chosen not to require the <br />clause and requested the Commission to reconsider the requirement. <br />Mr. Fernando Rico, AirTouch, displayed a location map of AirTouch cellular antennas in Santa Ana <br />and discussed with the Commission which antennas had acceptable receptions and antennas that <br />needed an increase in height due to poor reception. <br />Mc Dennis Lowry, AirTouch, displayed a model of an antenna and informed the Commission that <br />he and staff disagreed upon the stealth design and requested the Commission to review the proposal. <br />' Ms. Leslie Daegle, expressed her appreciation to staff for the proposed ordinance; and also expressed <br />her concerns regarding the proposed five year sunset clause. <br />Commissioner Solorio noted his concern regarding the maximum height of the antennas and requested <br />staff to research what other adjacent City requirements were related to the heights of monopoles and <br />antennas. <br />Commissioners MacDowell and Mondo noted and discussed several revisions to the language of the <br />proposed ordinance and requested staff to ensure that the wording of the ordinance was clearly stated. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES 3 MARCH ^3, 1998 <br />
