Discussion of appurtenances. pav phones on walk-ways and building8. <br />(Bill Apple) <br />Mr. Bill Apple, Assistant Planner II, presented slides of appurtenance problems throughout the City <br />and discussed possible alternatives and enforcement activities. <br />' Commissioner Mondo expressed concerns regazding signs and sidewalk businesses on commercial <br />properties along Main Street and other major arterials and security gates being located on the outside <br />of establishments instead of the inside. <br />Commissioner Nalle suggested staff to meet with the Chamber of Commerce representatives regazding <br />staff's concerns with appurtenances and requested staff to inform the Commission on August 25, 1997 <br />(45 days) of the progress made. <br />F. Discussion of cellular facilities. (Charles View) <br />Mr. Chazles View, Senior Planner, informed the Commission that the discussion regazding cellulaz <br />facilities would be held on June 19, 1997 at the Police Administration Facility at 6:00 p.m. <br />G. Discussion of Historical Ordinance. (Larry Yenglin) <br />Mr. Larry Yenglin, Associate Planner, discussed with the Commission the proposed revision to <br />Chapter 30 of the Historical Ordinance. He discussed how the proposal would revise the criteria for <br />historical structures; require a certificates for demolishing structures; demolition procedures; and <br />informed the Commission that staff was proposing that they act as administrators for historical <br />actions. <br />The following persons spoke in favor of the proposed ordinance: <br />' .Diann Mazsh <br />Ginelle Hazdy <br />Tim Rush <br />Bazbaza Berry <br />Archie Berry <br />Jim Mazquez <br />H. Comments from the Executive Director. (Robyn Uptegraff) <br />Ms. Uptegraff informed the Commission that 1) the Capital Improvement Program and the Home <br />Place shopping center had been approved by City Council on June 2, 1997; and the Planning and <br />Building Agency along with the Public Works Agency would be moving into the old Police building <br />located on Ross Street. The old facility would be demolished and new construction would be done <br />for the new facility, completion of the facility was anticipated at the end of 1998. <br />L Comments from the Planning Manager. (Kenneth Adams) <br />The Planning Manager was absent. <br />J. Comments from the Planning Commission. <br />Commissioner Doughty requested staff to provide maintenance and landscaping on the freeway <br />' entrance and exit at Bristol Street by Sherman Way. <br />Commissioner MacDowell stated that there had been an increase in illegal signage throughout the City <br />and asked if staff had been enforcing illegal signage. Ms. Uptegraff informed the Commission that <br />a study session would be held on July 28, 1997 to discuss enforcement activities. <br />Commissioner Oliver complained about the high volume of traffic on Bristol Street and requested <br />staff to ensure that the traffic signals on Bristol Street south of the freeway were synchronized and <br />operating correctly. <br />PIANNINO COMM1llSSION hllNVTB9 1 JUNE 9, 1997 <br />
