The following public members provided comments and concerns concerning the parking <br />of commercial vehicles in the local neighborhoods and encouraged City officials to <br />support legislation to support enforcement in the residential areas: <br />Ray Gawornski <br />Julie Stroud <br />Dave Lopez <br />Evangeline Gawornski <br />' Commissioner Mondo requested staff to provide a copy of the correspondence that was <br />sent to the League of California Cities to the Commission; encouraged the public <br />members to inform the elected officials of their concerns and request their support for <br />legislation concerning the parking of commercial vehicles in residential areas; and <br />requested an opinion from the City Attorney regarding ordinances from other cities <br />governing the parking of commercial vehicles in residential neighborhoods and the ability <br />to enforce legislation restricting or prohibiting the commercial vehicle parking in the <br />areas. <br />After further discussions, the Commission requested staff to prepare an ordinance in 30 <br />days (October 23, 2000). <br />C. Overview of Civic Center Walk Housins~ Development. <br />Mr. Charles View and Ms. Pat Whitaker, Community Development Agency, provided a <br />preliminary overview of a proposal to develop a 30-acre area to create a new <br />neighborhood to be bounded by Civic Center Drive to the north, East 6~' Street to the <br />south; with proximity to the civic Center, Artist Village, and the Transportation Center. <br />Commissioner Cribb encouraged staff to include the artist live-work space in the concept <br />for the new neighborhood. <br />' D. Discussion of Moose Lodcte. <br />Mr. Kenneth Adams, Acting Executive Director, provided an overview of a proposal to <br />convert an existing restaurant building into a lodge for the Loyal Order of the Moose <br />located at 1421 East Seventeenth Street. He informed the Commission that there would <br />be several discretionary actions coming before the Commission upon formal submittal. <br />He indicated the discretionary actions that staff would support on the proposal, however, <br />staff and the applicant were unable to resolve the parking issues concerning the project. <br />Ms. Pam Sapetto, representing the applicant, provided an overview of the parking <br />concerns for the project and discussed with the Commission agreements with adjacent <br />property owners. <br />E.
