Ms. Mary Gonzales, Public Works, informed the Commission that staff would be taking a contract <br />before City Council in July to extend the daily hours of the retrieval of the carts. <br />Motion to start writing and initiating a campaign for state iegislation to address the <br />removal of shopping carts. <br />MOTION: Doughty SECONDED: Richardson <br />AYES: Nalle, Verino, Doughty, Richardson, and Leo <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mondo, Doughty, and Cribb <br />ABSTENTION: None <br />Commissioner Nalle requested staff provide an update in six months and apprise the Commission <br />on any progress made. <br />F. Rear Yard Landscaaina Abutting non-residential uses. (Marvin Ellenbecker) <br />Mr. Marvin Ellenbecker, Landscape Associate, presented the rear yard discussion as requested <br />by the Commission. The Commission agreed that the existing policy to require front yard <br />landscaping (and side yard when viewable from the street) was appropriate. The Commission <br />further determined that requiring rear yard landscaping as part of new development should not be <br />implemented at this time; and indicated that staff could encourage applicants to provide rear yard <br />landscaping at the time the project is being approved. <br />G.
