She commented on the survey that was conducted for other cities regarding: <br />a. Like-for-like repairs or replacements <br />b. Restoration of documented features (apply compatibility criteria, if <br /> historical criteria available pictorial, physical otherwise Commission <br /> would apply criteria) <br />c. Accessory structures onsite <br />d. Skylights not visible from the right-of-way <br />e. Mechanical equipment such as A/C units, water heaters, etc. (least <br /> aesthetic impact for the structure) <br />' <br />f. Seismic/structural requirements by Building Official <br />g. Exterior lighting fixtures -Commissioner Cook-Giles would like to <br /> identify which acts require permits. <br />h. Landscape/hardscape features such as pools, trellis', etc. (if not <br /> designated as historic) <br />i. Resurfacing of exterior structure with no material change <br />j. Signs (if not designated as historic) <br />k. Foundation repair <br />I. Patio covers (not visible from the ROW) <br />Commission would like to direct staff to create an official list of modifications to <br />historic structures that may be approved administratively and memorialized in the <br />form of a resolution. <br />Commission discussion ensued regarding items on the list that would require a <br />permit, actual contents of list, and the ability to amend the list. Staff Comments <br />Karen Haluza announced the Santiago Loft Preview Event scheduled for <br />Thursday, November 10, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at 656 N. Santiago (located <br />across Train station). <br />Ms. Haluza commented on the Heninger Park Design Guidelines in conjunction <br />with the City's guidelines and the evaluation of the neighborhood reviews that <br />create the design review committees. <br />Ms. Soboleske congratulated The Historical Society for winning the Governor's <br />award for the coloring book that highlights many of Santa Ana's historic buildings <br />and is used in student history classes. She announced that Santa Ana was <br />selected as a Preserve America community. <br />Ms. Haluza thanked Ms. Soboleske for her efforts on the Preserve America <br />application. <br />' 3. Historic Resources Commission Comments <br />Commissioner Seeley <br />Commented on Wilshire Square Homeowners Association's concern with <br />the age of the commercial building at McFadden/Main street on northwest <br />corner that appeared in a photograph. Ms. Haluza provided information <br />from building permits that indicated that the structure was built in 1931 as <br />adrive-through.
