Public Hearing closed on April 1, <br />2004.) <br />Filed by the City of Santa Ana to place and categorize the structure at 210 South Birch <br />Street as Key on the Santa Ana Register of Historical Properties. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Continue item to November 4, 2004. <br />Motion: Continue item to November 4, 2004. <br />MOTION: Giles SECOND: Kings <br />AYES: Corpin, Gartner, Giles, Kings, Lutz, O'Callaghan, Schaefer (7) <br />NOES: None (0) <br />ABSENT: Bustamante, Chinn (2) <br />WORK STUDY SESSION <br />r, <br />E. <br />Vince Fregoso, Senior Planner, commented that the Planning Commission received a <br />request from Original Mike's Restaurant to allow two changeable copy signs on the north <br />elevation of the United Automotive Building. The Planning Commission approved one <br />changeable copy sign and referred the second sign to the Historic Resources <br />Commission for their recommendation on what would be the best treatment for the <br />opening. Commission discussion ensued. The Commission recommended at a <br />minimum of seeing a single sign appropriately scaled and dimensioned above the door. <br />They are open to a variety of solutions for filling in the openings, including the murals of <br />appropriate character, metal grill work or brick veneer with no plastic or vinyl. <br />F. HISTORIC SURVEY METHODOLOGY <br />Hally Soboleske, Assistant Planner II, reviewed the Citywide Historic Survey Timeline <br />map for neighborhoods, provided information on how the comprehensive methodology <br />was established with the city divided into four quadrants to identify which areas would be <br />surveyed and when. Commissioner Kings noted that Riverview West and Santa Anita <br />neighborhoods were split into quadrant Sections I & II, and recommended that they be <br />surveyed whole as a neighborhood and included in quadrant Section II. <br />Chairman Giles requested that an item be placed on the next meeting agenda to discuss <br />the future listing policy for register candidates. <br /> <br />G.
