STAFF AND COMMISSION COMMENTS <br />Comments from Staff <br />Mr. View <br />• Welcomed Commissioners Richardson and Bustamante back for another year. <br />• Update on'Philips Block redevelopment project will be scheduled for next month. <br />• Provided update on the Southern Counties Gas Building. Will bring forward during <br />the environmental review process either in March or April. <br />' Mr. Edwards <br />• Welcomed Phillip Schaefer to the Commission. <br />• Congratulated Commissioners Richardson and Bustamante on their reappointments. <br />• Reminded the Template Review Committee that the next meeting is tomorrow. The <br />months of March and November will also have back-to-back meetings. <br />Madam Chair Kings has a conflict and has a request to change the time; will meet at <br />4:30 p.m. tomorrow. Mr. Edwards advised that comments have been forwarded to <br />Mr. Harris and staff will contact the Ad Hoc Committee members to review his revisions <br />when they are returned. <br />Comments from Historic Resources Commission <br />Commissioner Bustamante <br />• Asked how long the conveyor belt would be at the Southern Counties Gas Building. <br />Mr. View stated it would take two months to get ready and then take several weeks <br />to move out the soil; the present schedule is March or April. <br />• Welcomed Commissioner Schaefer.. <br />Commissioner Chinn <br />• Southern Counties Gas Building has a facade easement. He met with the <br />contractor, four-feet of material will be taken out, and then hopes the building can be <br />occupied. Noted the brickwork had been repaired and is outstanding. <br />• Met with City on Philips Block. Everything goes thraugh the State Architect's office, <br />as it is part of the process. <br />• Welcomed Commissioner Schaefer. <br />• Orange County Historic Society will have a meeting this time next week; Joan Irvine <br />will be signing her book at the Kidseum and Bowers Museum. <br />Commissioner Corwin <br />• Thanked staff for their ongoing work and outstanding job. <br />• Welcomed Commissioner Schaefer. <br />• Asked that the Commission be kept updated on One Broadway Plaza. <br />Commissioner Gartner <br />• Sympathized with Mr. Scott's position but could not bring himself to vote against the <br />recommendation. <br />• Welcomed Commissioner Schaefer. <br />Commissioner Giles <br />• Welcomed Commissioner Schaefer. <br />• Met with Mr. Harrah regarding One Broadway Plaza. <br />Commissioner O'Callaghan <br />• Welcomed Commissioner Schaefer. <br />' Sat in on panel discussion Don Cribb organized, both enjoyable and informative. <br />• Suggested the Commission draft an opinion on One Broadway Plaza as soon as <br />possible. <br />Commissioner Richardson <br />• Agreed with Commissioner O'Callaghan's comment and recommended that the <br />opinion should be drafted after the draft EIR has been reviewed. <br />• Welcomed Commissioner Schaefer. <br />Commissioner Schaefer <br />• Thanked everyone for his or her welcome. <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION MINUTES 10 FEBRUARY 7, 2002 <br />
