STAFF AND COMMISSION COMMENTS Comments from Staff Mr. View • Welcomed Commissioners Richardson and Bustamante back for another year. • Update on'Philips Block redevelopment project will be scheduled for next month. • Provided update on the Southern Counties Gas Building. Will bring forward during the environmental review process either in March or April. ' Mr. Edwards • Welcomed Phillip Schaefer to the Commission. • Congratulated Commissioners Richardson and Bustamante on their reappointments. • Reminded the Template Review Committee that the next meeting is tomorrow. The months of March and November will also have back-to-back meetings. Madam Chair Kings has a conflict and has a request to change the time; will meet at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow. Mr. Edwards advised that comments have been forwarded to Mr. Harris and staff will contact the Ad Hoc Committee members to review his revisions when they are returned. Comments from Historic Resources Commission Commissioner Bustamante • Asked how long the conveyor belt would be at the Southern Counties Gas Building. Mr. View stated it would take two months to get ready and then take several weeks to move out the soil; the present schedule is March or April. • Welcomed Commissioner Schaefer.. Commissioner Chinn • Southern Counties Gas Building has a facade easement. He met with the contractor, four-feet of material will be taken out, and then hopes the building can be occupied. Noted the brickwork had been repaired and is outstanding. • Met with City on Philips Block. Everything goes thraugh the State Architect's office, as it is part of the process. • Welcomed Commissioner Schaefer. • Orange County Historic Society will have a meeting this time next week; Joan Irvine will be signing her book at the Kidseum and Bowers Museum. Commissioner Corwin • Thanked staff for their ongoing work and outstanding job. • Welcomed Commissioner Schaefer. • Asked that the Commission be kept updated on One Broadway Plaza. Commissioner Gartner • Sympathized with Mr. Scott's position but could not bring himself to vote against the recommendation. • Welcomed Commissioner Schaefer. Commissioner Giles • Welcomed Commissioner Schaefer. • Met with Mr. Harrah regarding One Broadway Plaza. Commissioner O'Callaghan • Welcomed Commissioner Schaefer. ' Sat in on panel discussion Don Cribb organized, both enjoyable and informative. • Suggested the Commission draft an opinion on One Broadway Plaza as soon as possible. Commissioner Richardson • Agreed with Commissioner O'Callaghan's comment and recommended that the opinion should be drafted after the draft EIR has been reviewed. • Welcomed Commissioner Schaefer.
