3. Discussion of Downtown proiects. <br />Charles View, Downtown Development Manager, provided an update on the following <br />projects: <br />• Masonic Temnle, Mr. Harrah recently purchased build~ng, he was searching for a tenant, <br />no plans submitted for improvements. <br />• One Broadwav Plaza, consideration was now being giv n to a 37 story structure for office <br />space, commercial uses, and food uses, the site was c rrently under environment review <br />and preparations have begun for the Environmental Im act Report (EIR). Commissioner <br />Corpin expressed concern regarding property owner's t levision reception being disturbed <br />due to the size of the proposed building and asked if th EIR would address her concerns. <br />Mr. View stated that he would note her comments. <br />• Fourth Street/Broadwav, site was proposed for a Zov's ~istro, however the project will not <br />proceed. The property owner has not located a new ten~nt. <br />• 1815 North Broadwav, demolition would take place <br /> <br />• Spurgeon Buildine, clock was now working, property owner had not located new tenant. <br />• Otis Buildine, property owner had not located a new <br />• UCI/Santa Ana College (Idea Institute) -State and Federal funding had been provided for <br />feasibility analysis for locating two and four year col ege programs for graphic related <br />studies, staff was attempting to raise additional fun ing for preparation of plans and <br />construction. <br />• Orange Countv Hiah School for the Arts, scheduled to be reviewed by the Redevelopment <br />Agency for approval, scheduled to open in September 2 0. <br />• Cal State Fullerton (Grand Central buildinel, currently Ipened and operational. <br />• Santora Buildine, owner planning to renovate structure. <br />• Park Place Apartments, owner planning to renovate stt~ucture to be more compatible with <br />historic buildings in the area. ~, <br />• Rite Aid, was having lease challenges, scheduled to oped shortly. <br />• Fourth Street Merchants, had painted and constructed nE}w facades. <br />4. Comments from the Historic Resources Commission. <br />Commissioner Cribb requested to have a discussion reg rding adaptive re-use of historic <br />structures and possible Commission ideas as to the best use of buildings at the next scheduled <br />meeting. <br />Commissioner Chamberlain informed the Commission that) she would be resigning from the <br />Historic Resources Commission. She expressed her appreciation with working with staff and <br />her fellow Commissioners. <br />Commissioner Berry expressed his appreciation to staff f~r their work efforts and that the <br />' Commission had accomplished their objectives for 1999. <br />Commissioner Giles invited fellow Cotmissioners to the Fr~nch Park home tour on December <br />11 and 12, 1999. <br />Commissioner Corpin expressed her appreciation to staff land stated that she supported the <br />direction the Commission was proceeding. i <br />Commissioner Kings stated that she had recently met with di <br />Boazd of Directors and during the meeting concerns w: <br />storage, and sale of historical property; the Board requeste <br />using historical structures for Police and SWAT drills in the <br />plaque program; and they offered their web site to disperse <br />concern was expressed regazding not having more physical <br />Santa Ana Historic Preservation's <br />raised regarding the salvaging, <br />that the Police Department cease <br />:ity; they would like to review the <br />storical information.
